Summary
Our strategic partner is seeking a Cashew Color Sorting & Peeling Section Leader to manage the peeling and color sorting sections of the cashew processing line. This role ensures stable machine operation, effective peeling performance, accurate defect removal, proper moisture control, food safety compliance, manpower allocation, productivity improvement, and achievement of production targets.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the peeling and color sorting sections of the cashew processing line to achieve quality, productivity, yield, and food safety targets.
- Operate, monitor, and supervise industrial color sorting equipment or equivalent systems used in cashew kernel classification.
- Operate and oversee peeling machines and humidification chambers to maintain stable processing conditions.
- Understand key equipment parameters, compressor systems, and operating conditions required for effective machine performance.
- Set and adjust machine parameters, including color shade settings, defect detection criteria, and sensitivity levels.
- Control peeling performance for both whole and broken kernels and ensure proper peelability across product categories.
- Monitor moisture levels after humidification to support efficient peeling and consistent product quality.
- Ensure whole kernel percentage, broken kernel percentage, and reject percentage meet customer standards.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team for routine checks, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
- Improve color sorter performance to achieve at least 98% defect removal accuracy and maintain stable machine operations.
- Reduce equipment downtime and support machine uptime of at least 98% operational time.
- Maintain high-quality output while minimizing under-rejection, over-rejection, rework, and unnecessary product loss.
- Conduct sampling and visual inspections to verify product consistency and processing quality.
- Work with the Quality Control team to validate kernel grades and identify abnormalities in peeling or sorting results.
- Implement corrective actions promptly when quality deviations or process issues occur.
- Supervise peeling operators, color sorting operators, and helpers, with an expected team size of approximately 8 to 10 staff.
- Allocate manpower across shifts to meet daily and weekly production requirements.
- Train workers on machine handling, food safety, hygiene practices, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor operator performance and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Follow production plans and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly output targets are achieved.
- Track input and output mass balance, identify losses, and report process deviations.
- Maintain accurate records of machine parameters, shift performance, downtime, rejects, yields, and production results.
- Submit complete daily shift reports on time at the end of each shift.
- Ensure cleanliness and process hygiene in accordance with HACCP, BRC, and HALAL guidelines.
- Ensure workers wear required personal protective equipment and follow hygiene protocols strictly.
- Support QA during internal and external audits and assist in implementing corrective actions when required.
- Maintain full compliance with hygiene and food safety audit requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements for peeling and sorting operations.
- Support initiatives to improve yield, reduce re-sorting, minimize rejects, and enhance machine efficiency.
- Update standard operating procedures when process improvements are implemented.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as QA, Maintenance, and Warehouse when operational support is needed.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to sorting accuracy, machine performance, throughput, yield optimization, manpower productivity, hygiene compliance, rework reduction, reporting accuracy, and training compliance.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related fields.
- Five to seven years of experience in the cashew processing industry, with strong hands-on exposure to peeling operations and color sorting equipment.
- Strong understanding of peelability control, moisture conditioning, and defect classification.
- Knowledge of HACCP, BRC, GMP, and food safety procedures.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills for managing operators, helpers, and processing activities.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in factory and processing environments.
- Ability to train workers effectively on equipment handling, hygiene, food safety, and SOP compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong focus on product quality.
- Ability to manage multiple processing lines at the same time.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, including Excel and reporting tools.
- Ability to communicate in English.
