Summary
Our Partner is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to bridge communication between Japanese customers and offshore development teams, drive business and system analysis activities, and support the successful delivery of enterprise technology projects. The role requires strong analytical thinking, technical expertise, stakeholder management capabilities, and business-level Japanese proficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with Japanese clients to gather business needs, understand existing platforms, identify operational issues, and capture future business objectives.
- Perform business and system analysis activities, clarify requirements, and support consulting engagements during project initiation stages.
- Interpret customer requirements and convert them into functional specifications, user requirements, or solution recommendations for offshore development teams.
- Contribute to solution planning discussions and support alignment of system architecture and high-level design approaches.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Japanese stakeholders and offshore delivery teams located in Vietnam and India.
- Guide and coordinate offshore development teams throughout implementation and delivery activities.
- Assist with project scheduling, requirement monitoring, change control activities, and overall delivery coordination.
- Evaluate project outputs and ensure deliverables meet customer expectations and required quality standards.
- Participate in workshops, system reviews, demonstrations, testing activities, and customer meetings.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation in both Japanese and English.
- Work closely with technical teams on architecture planning, development strategies, system integration, and deployment planning.
- Work onsite in Sendai, Japan.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Japanese language proficiency at business level or above (JLPT N2 or higher).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English when working with global and offshore teams.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Analysis, System Analysis, Bridge Engineer, Technical Leadership, or customer-facing technology positions.
- Strong knowledge of software delivery methodologies and development lifecycles, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid models.
- Technical understanding of application architecture, software development, system integration, and engineering practices.
- Capability to participate in technical discussions and effectively coordinate with development teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience supporting Japanese enterprise clients or participating in onsite projects in Japan.
- Experience within enterprise sectors such as Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing, or related industries is advantageous.
- Understanding or practical exposure to technologies including Java, Python, C#, cloud environments, or enterprise application architectures is preferred.
- Experience managing or leading offshore development teams is preferred.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI solutions, or application modernization initiatives is an advantage.
- Experience preparing business requirement documents, functional specifications, workflow diagrams, solution documentation, or architecture-related materials is preferred.
- Familiarity with Japanese project governance and quality management practices is preferred.
