Production Manager

Summary

Our strategic partner is seeking a Production Manager to manage end-to-end production activities within a cashew kernel processing facility. This role is responsible for organizing production plans, supervising processing operations, optimizing productivity and yield, controlling costs, deploying manpower effectively, and ensuring consistent product quality and compliance with food safety and operational standards across shelling, drying, peeling, grading, and packing stages.

Job Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control:

  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules covering all processing stages, including shelling, drying, peeling, grading, and packing.
  • Track production targets and make timely adjustments to manpower, machines, and resources to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Improve yield performance and reduce wastage by applying continuous improvement actions throughout production operations.
  • Review production line performance, identify operational gaps, and carry out corrective actions when required.

Quality & Food Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure products are produced in line with customer specifications and applicable industry grading standards.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO, BRC, and FSSC 22000 requirements across production activities.
  • Conduct routine hygiene checks and take preventive actions against contamination and infestation risks.
  • Coordinate with QC and QA teams for inspections, audit preparation, and follow-up on corrective actions.

Workforce Management:

  • Supervise shift supervisors, line leaders, and production staff to ensure effective execution of production plans.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, skill development, and reinforcement of approved standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain team discipline, workplace safety, and employee motivation within the production function.
  • Assess staff performance and recommend improvement actions or development plans where needed.

Process Optimization:

  • Review the end-to-end production workflow to shorten cycle time and increase productivity.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve throughput.
  • Ensure production processes follow approved SOPs and update SOPs when process improvements are implemented.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Kaizen, and 5S practices.

Inventory & Cost Control:

  • Coordinate with warehouse and stores teams to secure the availability of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies.
  • Monitor production costs and implement measures to reduce overhead and improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee ERP updates related to production output, material usage, and inventory movements.
  • Reduce processing losses and maintain strong kernel recovery performance.

Reporting & Coordination:

  • Prepare and submit daily production reports, variance analysis, and yield reports.
  • Work closely with QC, Maintenance, Procurement, and HR teams to support smooth factory operations.
  • Report operational issues, machine breakdowns, or production delays promptly to the Factory Manager.
  • Participate in management review meetings and provide updates on production performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of cashew processing stages, yield optimization, and grading methods.
  • Experience working in food manufacturing environments, preferably within nuts or agricultural commodities.
  • Familiarity with food safety audits and international certification standards, including BRC, HACCP, ISO, and FSSC.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage.
  • English proficiency is preferred.
  • Willingness to work mainly in production and factory environments with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and odors.
  • Availability to work extended hours or weekend shifts during peak production periods when required.
  • Commitment to following all food safety, hygiene, and PPE requirements.
