Business Development Manager

Our strategic partner is a leading Vietnam-based manufacturer serving both domestic and international markets across the marine, aquaculture, agriculture, and industrial sectors. Job Responsibilities

Our strategic partner is seeking an Business Development Manager to define and execute the international business strategy, expand overseas markets, optimize export revenue and profitability, and develop global customer, distributor, and partner networks. Reporting directly to executive management, this role leads the international business function and coordinates cross-functional execution to strengthen the company’s global market position.

International Market Strategy:

  • Research, analyze, and evaluate potential markets across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and other international regions.
  • Develop and implement market-entry and market-share expansion strategies for priority regions.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to develop the global brand and execute international communication campaigns.
  • Build international business plans that support each stage of the company’s growth. 

Global Sales Channels & Partnerships:

  • Identify, negotiate with, and develop relationships with overseas importers, distributors, agents, customers, and strategic partners.
  • Build and manage international B2B, B2C, OEM, and other applicable sales channels.
  • Develop and optimize global online sales channels, including international marketplace and direct-to-customer platforms.
  • Develop at least five new international distributors or agents per year and support at least 5% international market-share growth. 

Revenue, Contracts & Commercial Performance:

  • Lead negotiations and execution of international commercial contracts.
  • Ensure annual international revenue achieves 100% of the approved plan.
  • Develop market-appropriate pricing, payment, and discount policies.
  • Manage export revenue, profit, budgets, and business performance, including profit-and-loss analysis.
  • Maintain export gross margin above 30%, monitor average export contract value, and optimize transportation, tariff, and other export costs.
  • Maintain logistics costs below 15% of international revenue. 

Customer Management & International Service:

  • Establish professional customer-care processes to support satisfaction, retention, and long-term international relationships.
  • Coordinate with Production, Logistics, and Finance to ensure smooth delivery, after-sales service, documentation, and customer support.
  • Develop more than ten new contracted international customers per year and monitor customer satisfaction indicators.
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers and partners and support completion of required commercial documents, procedures, and company requirements. 

Team Leadership & Capability Development:

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop the international business team.
  • Establish performance indicators and monitor and evaluate team performance.
  • Implement coaching programs that strengthen commercial capability and a global working mindset.
  • Ensure more than 90% of team members achieve assigned performance targets.
  • Build and regularly update succession plans and provide ongoing guidance to the international business team.

 Compliance, Risk & Global Brand Development:

  • Ensure compliance with import-export laws, international standards, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations in each market.
  • Apply knowledge of international sales contracts, supply chain and logistics, international payment methods, and market-specific legal requirements.
  • Work with relevant functions to build, maintain, and strengthen the company’s brand image in global markets.
  • Identify commercial risks, support sound judgment, and adapt plans in response to market changes.

 Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Receive business direction from executive management, prepare detailed execution plans, and provide regular performance reports.
  • Coordinate and support members of the international business team in completing assigned objectives.
  • Collaborate with other functions to execute orders, customer service, finance, logistics, marketing, production, and business-development activities.
  • Maintain productive relationships with all customers, commercial partners, and other external stakeholders.

 Job Requirements

  • Possess extensive knowledge and practical experience in international markets, including the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia, particularly in import-export, logistics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of international trade, including foreign trade contracts, supply chain and logistics operations, international payment methods such as L/C, T/T, D/P, and D/A, and applicable legal regulations in different markets.
  • Have experience establishing and operating international business and international trade systems, as well as working directly with international partners and customers.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of international business strategy, distribution channel management, new market development, financial and budget management, and business performance analysis, including P&L management.
  • Be proficient in using enterprise management systems, market analysis tools, Business Intelligence platforms, CRM systems, ERP systems, and relevant market research methodologies.
  • Be capable of organizing and managing the International Business Department effectively and developing market expansion plans appropriate to each stage of business growth.
  • Demonstrate advanced English proficiency in an international business environment.
  • Proficiency in an additional foreign language is an advantage, preferably Chinese, German, or Spanish.
  • Be capable of identifying individual and team-related issues to ensure effective work execution.
  • Have the ability to train, guide, and motivate employees to achieve business objectives.
