Port Commercial Manager

Our strategic partner is a leading flour manufacturer in Southeast Asia, operating a multinational network of production facilities and managing specialized port operations and large-scale grain storage facilities across the region.

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans to expand the port’s business volume and achieve revenue targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Maintain strong connections with current clients and secure new contracts to increase port usage.
  • Lead discussions regarding pricing and terms for agreements with new partners.
  • Participate in industry events to establish a professional network that supports business expansion.
  • Verify that all port activities adhere to signed agreements and relevant legal standards.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to define and execute organizational objectives and performance metrics.
  • Perform market analysis to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • Supervise marketing initiatives to ensure they support broader business aims.
  • Address and resolve commercial disputes or operational challenges as they occur.
  • Act as the primary liaison for stakeholders within and outside the organization.
  • Establish the commercial roadmap and direction for ongoing projects.
  • Track client activity and contract fulfillment throughout the service period.
  • Lead and guide the commercial staff to ensure high performance.
  • Identify and capitalize on potential revenue streams.
  • Track departmental spending and budget allocation.
  • Assess potential commercial liabilities and implement mitigation strategies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; experience in the maritime sector is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience focused on marketing or business development.
  • In-depth understanding of how grain is processed and handled at ports.
  • Familiarity with global trade practices and standards.
  • Understanding of marketing strategies specific to port operations.
  • Awareness of maritime laws and regulatory frameworks is an asset.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data and figures.
  • Established connections within the grain trading industry; familiarity with port operations is a plus.
  • Strong capability in managing client accounts and developing business relationships.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing both Vietnamese and English.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams successfully.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to close deals and negotiate effectively.
  • Business-oriented approach with the ability to work cooperatively across teams.
  • Knowledge of current market trends and relevant legislation.
  • Skill in establishing long-term professional bonds with industry peers.
  • Full fluency in English across all four main skills.
