Job Responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Responsibility:
- Ensure complete adherence to internal protocols OHS-PR-12 and SDD-ENV-PR-07.
- Uphold all company QEOHS policies, procedures, standards, rules and regulations. Performance in this area will be evaluated against criteria specified in the Dialogue system.
- Oversee compliance by all staff, visitors and contractors with established company QEOHS guidelines and requirements.
- Track the execution of the department’s annual OH&S plan and its environmental management objectives.
- Supervise and maintain high standards of housekeeping across all work areas.
- Conduct SOT, PTO and EOT, subsequently developing action plans for continuous improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive measures arising from hazard/incident reports and investigations.
Operation Management and Optimization:
- Assess and authorize production schedules on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
- Manage departmental goals and issue operational instructions to ensure the attainment of KPIs.
- Supervise the execution of the scheduled maintenance program for equipment and facilities.
- Collaborate with other functional teams to efficiently deploy resources for troubleshooting, aiming to minimize plant downtime and swiftly restore operations.
- Compile, prioritize, and submit the department’s CAPEX proposals
- Oversee and facilitate the execution of approved CAPEX projects, including Kiln 2 initiative.
Product Quality Control:
- Develop and implement strategic action plans to resolve issues adversely affecting product quality.
- Work closely with QA, Production and the OLA to continuously enhance and refine product quality standards.
Production Cost Management and Optimization:
- Assess and finalize the department’s operational budget.
- Monitor and manage operational and mobile equipment maintenance expenditures on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Oversee and optimize the consumption of key resources such as diesel, explosives and energy.
- Leverage internal capabilities and resources to reduce dependency on third-party services.
People Management and Development:
- Design and implement succession plans and IDPs for critical team members.
- Identify necessary competencies and formulate comprehensive training programs for all departmental staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship and guidance to direct reports.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to facilitate and deliver training initiatives for team members.
- Establish clear KPIs for the department and individual team members.
- Track employee performance, offering timely feedback, motivation and appropriate recognition for achievements and areas needing improvement.
- Design and roll out cross-training programs to enhance versatility across all staff levels.
Sustainable Development:
- Guarantee adherence to long-term operational plans as sanctioned by the Ministry of Industry.
- Oversee both long-term and short-term quarry planning utilizing tools such as QSO, Quarry Master, Surpac.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with established management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS standards.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience within the cement sector, with a significant focus on quarry operations and mining.
- At least 6 years of experience in a Quarry Managerial or leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in the management and maintenance of mobile quarry equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant material extraction and mining legislation.
- Proficiency with quarry planning software such as QSO, Quarry Master, Surpac.
- Excellent command of the English language for communication and reporting.
- Solid understanding of material and resource management principles, including the legal aspects of explosives handling and management.
- Proficiency with SAP, MAC systems, ISO standards, and software including AutoCAD, MS Office Suite (including MS Project), Surpac, Minesched, AthosGeo,…
- Proven ability in budget management and cost control.
