Project Manager (Japanese)

Summary

Our strategic partner is seeking a Project Manager (Japanese) to lead IT project delivery for enterprise customers. The role manages scope, timelines, budgets, quality, resources, and risks while coordinating Japanese stakeholders and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle. Technology stacks, domains, and clients will be discussed during interviews and matched to candidate experience and available projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initiation to delivery, overseeing schedules, scope, risks, and budgets.
• Follow Japanese project management standards to maintain quality and compliance.
• Monitor and resolve issues, plan resources, and maintain project performance objectives.
• Maintain effective communication with Japanese stakeholders and internal teams.
• Proactively identify and address delivery risks and changes in scope.
• Verify that deliverables satisfy quality, technical, and contractual requirements.
• Keep project documentation and reports up to date.

Job Requirements

• At least 5 years of Project Management experience delivering enterprise IT/software projects from initiation through deployment and post-production support. Two profiles are considered: candidates with a technical career background, including former BrSE professionals with 2–3 recent years in PM; or candidates without that background who have managed and currently manage IT projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage scope, quality, budgets, resources, and schedules, delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software engineering practices, and project delivery methodologies.
• Practical Agile experience, including sound knowledge and hands-on use of Scaled Agile frameworks such as SAFe or equivalent.
• Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies across stakeholders and teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong leadership experience with cross-functional, multicultural, and distributed teams.
• Intermediate or higher conversational English to communicate with customers, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher; a JLPT certificate is not required.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum Master, or other relevant project management certifications are an advantage.
