R&D Strategy Portfolio – Projects Manager

Our strategic partner specializes in supplying ingredients, additives, and related commodities for various manufacturing industries. The business is currently expanding its operations in Vietnam and is seeking multiple new positions to support its growth strategy and business expansion in the next development phase.

Summary

Our strategic partner is seeking an R&D Strategy Portfolio – Projects Manager to coordinate the innovation portfolio and lead cross-functional development initiatives from concept through commercialization. This permanent role reports to the Head of R&D and connects project priorities, resources, risks, budgets, and performance reporting with the organization’s business-growth strategy.

Job Responsibilities

R&D Portfolio & Strategy Management:

• Partner with the Head of R&D to translate business priorities into an actionable innovation roadmap and support its execution.
• Oversee the consolidated portfolio of R&D initiatives spanning multiple product categories and business units.
• Evaluate and sequence projects according to strategic relevance, market potential, resource requirements, risk exposure, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain visibility of project milestones, KPIs, budgets, and resource allocation across the portfolio.

Project Management:

• Lead cross-functional R&D initiatives through concept definition, development, and commercial launch.
• Integrate workstreams across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, QA/QC, and Manufacturing to keep implementation coordinated.
• Define project schedules, expected deliverables, governance mechanisms, and reporting routines.

Innovation & Market Insights:

• Translate market intelligence and trends across food ingredients, flavors, nutrition, beverages, bakery, dairy, seasonings, and related sectors into actionable insights.
• Strengthen the innovation pipeline by combining customer feedback, technology scouting, and competitor analysis.
• Coordinate innovation activities with internal stakeholders and external partners, suppliers, and customers.

Performance & Reporting:

• Consolidate portfolio performance and strategic progress into recurring management updates.
• Create dashboards and tracking tools to measure project-delivery efficiency and innovation effectiveness.
• Review project outcomes, capture improvement opportunities, and recommend continuous-improvement actions.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
• MBA or certification in Project Management is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience within Food Ingredients, FMCG, Food Manufacturing, or related industries, focusing on R&D project management, innovation management, strategy, or portfolio management.
• Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional projects and multiple stakeholders.
• Candidates with experience in innovation commercialization and product development processes are preferred.
• Strong skills in project management and strategic planning.
• Excellent abilities in analysis, presentation, and communication.
• Strong capability in stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination.
• Strong problem-solving skills combined with a data-driven mindset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, or project management tools.
• Good command of the English language.
