Summary
Our Partner is hiring an Improvement & Maintenance Manager to serve as the main technical lead for the Production Team and to take direct responsibility for the Maintenance function in order to support stable production line performance. Reporting to the Factory Director, the position oversees hands-on operational activities, including preventive maintenance execution, installation of new production lines, and process improvement. The role partners closely with the Factory Production Manager and Engineering team to upgrade production line performance, improve productivity, and increase the reliability of processing equipment. The job holder is expected to quickly develop into an internal technical point of reference for processing-related requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, roll out, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and maintenance procedures for mechanical, plumbing, electrical, instrumentation, and software-related systems.
- Ensure production lines comply with applicable local regulations and the company’s internal production standards, including ISO 22000 requirements.
- Oversee the full Maintenance team and workshop operations, assign work effectively, and supervise the team responsible for equipment upkeep.
- Maintain control over equipment inventories, spare parts records, and storage conditions, and arrange spare parts orders when needed.
- Support factory-level continuous improvement by identifying operational issues, reporting findings, and recommending practical optimization measures.
- Coordinate with the Engineering team during new equipment installation projects and commissioning activities.
- Inspect factory facilities regularly to detect issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Review electrical and hydraulic systems within buildings to confirm proper functionality.
- Plan and supervise repair, maintenance, and installation activities across the facility.
- Manage working relationships with contractors and external service providers.
- Prepare for and participate in regular internal audits, as well as audit sessions conducted by customers and third parties.
- Cooperate with other departments to address factory operation issues related to quality, engineering, productivity, training, performance appraisal, 5S discipline, safety, and other relevant matters.
- Train new employees, provide follow-up training for current staff, conduct regular performance reviews, prepare appraisal comments, and lead the Improvement & Maintenance team toward agreed objectives.
- Work with Human Resources on staffing requirements and workforce planning for the function.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for Improvement & Maintenance activities, including maintenance logs and daily activity reports.
- Review operational data and submit reports to senior management, including downtime information and root cause analysis.
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives related to processes, systems, machinery, and cost efficiency.
- Develop KPIs for the Improvement & Maintenance Department, review operational performance regularly and systematically, and report results to the Board of Directors.
- Create guidelines, procedures, and SOPs that define best practices across relevant work steps and ensure alignment with food safety, ISO 22000, and HACCP standards.
- Contribute to cost control and budget planning activities, monitor maintenance expenses, and manage spending within the approved budget.
- Ensure occupational safety and health standards are maintained to support an accident-free workplace.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, develop change plans, and monitor progress against agreed goals.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position, with experience in the food, feed, or aquaculture industry preferred.
- Educational background in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
- CAD/DAO capability, including AutoCAD skills for P&ID preparation, with familiarity in applying international standards.
- Good spoken and written English communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of facility machinery, production equipment, and related technical systems.
- Strong organizational capability and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness.
