Our strategic partner belongs to an international retailer headquartered in Europe, specializing in interior and exterior furniture. They are currently expanding their business operations in Vietnam and are seeking to fill key positions for this new market.
Job Responsibilities
Production Operations & Strategic Planning:
- Create annual production budgets and capacity strategies. Develop weekly and monthly schedules for the metal workshop that align with sales demand and general company workflow.
- Oversee all manufacturing tasks related to sheet metal and tube processing. Manage core fabrication steps including cutting, laser work, bending, punching, welding, grinding, and painting or powder coating.
- Build a reliable production management system to track progress from start to finish. Address bottlenecks or urgent delays immediately to guarantee orders are delivered on schedule.
Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:
- Direct Lean initiatives within the workshop. Plan and apply methods such as value stream mapping, manufacturing cells, rapid changeovers (SMED), and TPM.
- Run ongoing improvement programs targeting primary metrics, specifically increasing material efficiency, boosting equipment effectiveness (OEE), shortening lead times, and lowering production costs.
- Foster a mindset of constant improvement among the staff and set up a feedback loop to encourage new technical and managerial ideas from the team.
Technology, Process & Quality Management:
- Set up and refine processing standards, operating manuals, and quality check criteria.
- Use technical expertise in laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, and surface finishing to guide the team and solve difficult technical problems.
- Work with the Quality department to maintain the management system. Push for identifying the root causes of defects and implementing lasting fixes to ensure products satisfy customer needs.
Cost Control & Supply Chain Collaboration:
- Manage the workshop budget and expenses. Focus heavily on reducing scrap rates, auxiliary supply usage, and energy waste.
- Improve cutting layouts to waste less material. Manage the lifespan and purchasing costs of tools, dies, and consumables.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Planning teams to guarantee a steady, high-quality flow of raw materials and third-party components.
Equipment, Safety & People Management:
- Create and follow preventive maintenance schedules for major machinery, including lasers, benders, welders and paint lines, to keep equipment in top working order.
- Uphold strict safety rules, particularly for risky tasks like welding, heavy lifting, and chemical handling, with the aim of maintaining an accident-free workplace.
- Hire, train, and assess the performance of the shop management and technical staff to build a capable, professional, and steady team.
Cross-functional Communication & Customer Interface:
- Serve as the main contact for English communications with international teams regarding technical details, process reviews, and problem-solving.
- Assist Engineering and Product groups in assessing the feasibility of new items. Partner with Logistics, Quality and Planning teams to ensure smooth overall operations.
Job Requirements
- 45 years or younger.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Metal Materials or a similar discipline.
- At least 8 years in metal production, with a minimum of 5 years spent in a management or senior supervisory position within a workshop environment.
- Must have full-time management experience in medium-to-large modern manufacturing companies; familiarity with organized, high-volume operations is required.
- Strong English skills are required for daily work, including conducting international meetings, writing reports, and collaborating with global teams.
- Mastery of the full metal processing workflow, from raw material cutting to final surface treatment for both tubing and sheet metal.
- Practical history of leading Lean projects that resulted in measurable financial savings.
- Solid skills in strategy, data analysis, budget management, and team direction.
- Deeply focused on controlling manufacturing costs and maximizing material usage.
- Strong decision-making abilities under stress; resilient and results-driven with a focus on problem-solving.
- Capable of working effectively across different cultures and coordinating with various departments.
