Maintenance Manager (Mechanical)

Job Responsibilities

HSE Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with company safety, health, environmental policies, procedures, standards, and regulations
  • Ensure subordinates follow all QEOHS requirements and procedures
  • Execute safety observation and environmental observation activities according to schedule
  • Provide safe working conditions, processes, and necessary training, instruction, and supervision for employees
  • Manage departmental health, safety, and environmental plans and objectives
  • Implement safety programs to eliminate incidents and accidents
  • Monitor safety performance through audits and performance indicators
  • Ensure proper housekeeping practices at all work locations
  • Monitor and implement corrective actions following hazard or incident reports

Maintenance Operations: 

  • Ensure maintenance team follows work orders from the system across daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and shutdown schedules to maintain equipment reliability
  • Conduct troubleshooting activities to restore plant operations promptly
  • Execute maintenance and repair plans according to defined schedules
  • Ensure high-quality maintenance work to maximize equipment availability
  • Report equipment condition and status regularly
  • Prepare critical spare parts required for maintenance execution
  • Coordinate maintenance plans with production schedules
  • Manage periodic maintenance and equipment improvement plans
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and provide timely improvement actions
  • Finalize spare parts lists for procurement
  • Implement preventive maintenance for critical equipment.

Cost Control: 

  • Review and propose maintenance budget for the department
  • Monitor maintenance costs to ensure accuracy and compliance with budget
  • Optimize resource utilization to reduce reliance on external services
  • Develop strategies for equipment overhaul and plant shutdown to align with financial planning.

Shutdown Management: 

  • Plan, execute, and control plant shutdown activities to meet timelines and quality standards
  • Ensure shutdown activities are conducted safely and efficiently
  • Apply best practices to improve and upgrade equipment during shutdown.

CAPEX & Budget:

  • Prepare monthly and annual budgets for mechanical equipment
  • Evaluate and propose capital expenditure plans with clear justification and efficiency benefits
  • Prioritize capital investment based on equipment condition
  • Execute approved capital expenditure and budget plans.

Stakeholder Coordination: 

  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers to ensure effective maintenance programs
  • Collaborate with procurement to secure high-quality spare parts at optimal cost
  • Work with cross-functional departments including quality, production, logistics, and corporate teams to support maintenance and modification needs.

People Management & Development: 

  • Assess maintenance team capabilities and identify training needs to close competency gaps
  • Develop and implement training programs for maintenance staff
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and mentoring
  • Supervise execution of annual training plans for maintenance teams
  • Manage workforce efficiency and resource allocation within the maintenance organization
  • Monitor and implement succession planning across all levels
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and collective labor agreements
  • Develop individual development plans and competency frameworks for key personnel
  • Coordinate training programs with relevant departments
  • Establish KPIs for the department and team members
  • Monitor performance, motivate employees, and recognize achievements or address underperformance.

Job Requirements 

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Good command of English in both spoken and written communication
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment systems
  • Understanding of fabrication, repair, and maintenance within cement plant operations
  • Proficiency in SAP, MAC, MS Project, and AutoCAD
  • Ability to analyze cement production technology and equipment maintenance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a cement plant environment
  • Strong results orientation
