Head of Transportation (Nationwide)

The company has achieved significant success and has recently invested in production line technology and infrastructure. Due to continued growth and overall expansion, there are some strategic recruitment needs for the following positions to upgrade the organization and enhance people capability.

Summary

Our partner is seeking an accomplished Head of Transportation with experience in the Food & Beverage Manufacturing industry. The job holder is responsible for overseeing all transportation activities nationwide. In this role, you’ll set up and upgrade management system, develop the transportation function structure and responsibilities, develop people’s capabilities, and manage budget and optimize cost of all transportation operations nationwide, develop and ensure that all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.

Job Responsibilities

Establishment and implementation of warehouse and distribution network operations plan, inventory optimization for cost and cash flow efficiency, to meet business objectives.

  • Managing transport vendors/contractors to ensure smooth handling of transportation vehicles and efficient completion of goods delivery.
  • Developing policies, procedures, forms, reports, and process controls, including risk identification, warnings, and requirements for related departments to develop and implement risk management plans aimed at achieving capacity enhancement goals. Reporting actual operation results compared to policies to superiors and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring the receiving, delivery, and circulation processes of goods.
  • Monitoring the performance of warehouse staff and goods in the distribution center (DC/warehouse operational efficiency, damage rates, etc.).
  • Efficiently managing warehouse space, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintaining and developing an effective logistics service network to supply products and coordinate goods to distribution centers, stores, and directly to customers.
  • Organizing and managing export, import, and inventory activities in Finished Goods Warehouses of the company to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety, full supply of goods, and maximum satisfaction of customer needs.
  • Maintaining a well-functioning operations management system. Resolving all technical and system-related issues.
  • Implementing current, medium, and long-term operational projects.
  • Preparing and controlling budgets for expenses and related investments in warehouse and distribution operations.

Team management:

  • Developing departmental organization, job descriptions, procedures, and budgets aligned with department objectives.
  • Establishing operational goals for department and subordinate staff, gaining consensus with direct management, and ensuring goal achievement.
  • Developing and enhancing departmental capabilities, defining clear responsibilities, and effectively allocating and managing work for staff and subordinate teams.
  • Cultivating a “Continuous Improvement and Health & Safety Culture” across all distribution centers

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s Degree) in Supply Chain/Logistics, Warehouse Management, or related fields.
  • At least 10-15 years of experience, including from 5 years in the role of transportation manager in the third-party or large-scale FMCG manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent leadership skills, experience in managing a team from 50 -100 staffs.
  • Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and government regulations related to transportation.
  • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics.
  • Experience working with transport management systems and distribution management software.
  • Good ability to adapt to change and strong conflict resolution skills.
