Cashew Color Sorting Section & Peeling Section Leader

Our partner is global company that manages the supply chain for farm products and supplies with operation in 15 countries, offering a wide variety of agricultural goods.

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Job Responsibilities 

  • Manage the peeling and color sorting sections to ensure accurate grading and effective removal of defects using automated machines.
  • Operate and supervise Meyer 120 LDS4/KFS or equivalent color sorting machines.
  • Operate and supervise peeling machines and humidification chambers.
  • Set, adjust, and optimize machine parameters including color shades, sensitivity levels, defect categories, and operating conditions.
  • Monitor peelability and moisture levels to ensure efficient peeling for both whole and broken kernels.
  • Ensure whole %, broken %, and reject % meet customer and export specifications.
  • Monitor sorting accuracy to achieve at least 98% defect removal.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team for daily inspections, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Track and reduce machine downtime to ensure at least 98% operational uptime.
  • Conduct visual inspections, sampling, and comparisons against QC quality standards.
  • Minimize under-rejection (defects remaining) and over-rejection (excess good kernels removed).
  • Work closely with the QC team to validate kernel grades, identify processing issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure kernel uniformity and consistent output quality for export markets.
  • Lead and supervise peeling operators, color sorting operators, and helpers (approximately 8–10 staff).
  • Plan manpower allocation per shift to meet daily and weekly production requirements.
  • Train operators on machine handling, hygiene practices, food safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure operators strictly follow SOPs, safety rules, and hygiene standards.
  • Follow production plans and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets are achieved.
  • Track input versus output weight to ensure accurate mass balance and identify losses.
  • Maintain logs of machine settings, downtime, rejection rates, yields, and shift performance.
  • Submit complete and accurate daily shift reports on time.
  • Ensure section cleanliness in compliance with HACCP, BRC, HALAL, and food safety requirements.
  • Enforce proper PPE usage and hygiene compliance across all shifts.
  • Support QA and food safety teams during internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Monitor operators’ adherence to sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in peeling efficiency, sorting accuracy, machine performance, and yield.
  • Propose improvements to SOPs, machine settings, and workflows to enhance productivity.
  • Reduce re-sorting cases to 2% or below through process optimization.
  • Support cross-functional teams such as QA, Maintenance, and Warehouse when required.

Job Requirements 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related fields.
  • 5–7 years of experience in food processing, preferably in the cashew or nut industry, with strong hands-on experience in peeling operations and color sorting machines (Meyer preferred).
  • Solid understanding of peeling processes, moisture conditioning, color sorting operations, calibration, and defect classification.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP, BRC, GMP, and HALAL.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and team management skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and consistency.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer literacy for reporting purposes (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to train workers effectively and ensure full SOP compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production timelines.
