Job Responsibilities

Manage the color sorting section to ensure accurate grading of cashew kernels using automated color sorting machines.
Operate and supervise Meyer 120 LDS4/KFS or equivalent color sorting machines.
Set and adjust machine parameters, including color shades, sensitivity, and defect categories.
Monitor rejection accuracy to achieve at least 98% defect removal.
Coordinate with the maintenance team for calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
Track and reduce machine downtime to ensure at least 98% operational uptime.
Conduct visual inspections, sampling, and comparisons against QC quality standards.
Minimize under-rejections (defects remaining) and over-rejections (excess good kernels removed).
Work closely with QC to validate grades, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure kernel uniformity and consistent output quality for export.
Lead and supervise a team of 4–6 operators and helpers.
Plan manpower allocation per shift to meet daily production requirements.
Train new staff on machine operation, hygiene practices, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure operators follow standard procedures and safety rules.
Follow the production plan and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly sorting targets are met.
Track input versus output weight to ensure mass-balance accuracy.
Maintain logs of machine settings, downtime, rejection rates, and shift output.
Submit daily shift reports on time with complete and accurate data.
Ensure section cleanliness in compliance with HACCP, BRC, HALAL, and food safety requirements.
Enforce proper PPE usage and hygiene compliance.
Support QA and food safety teams during audits and implement corrective actions as required.
Monitor operators’ adherence to sanitation and safety rules.
Identify improvement opportunities in sorting accuracy, machine efficiency, and yield.
Suggest modifications to SOPs, machine settings, or workflows.
Reduce re-sorting cases to 2% or below through process optimization.
Support cross-functional teams such as QA, Maintenance, and Warehouse when required.

Job Requirements

Diploma or degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related fields.
5–7 years of experience in food processing, preferably in the cashew or nut industry, with hands-on experience using color sorting machines (Meyer preferred).
Understanding of color sorting machine operations, calibration, and defect detection.
Knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP, BRC, GMP, and HALAL.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Basic computer literacy for reporting (Excel, Word).
Ability to train workers effectively and ensure SOP compliance.
Ability to work under pressure to meet production timelines.
